Hang them High?
How long can a man hang by his neck and survive? Well, the neck might snap and if doesn't then the lack of oxygen would prove fatal. But such minpor things are irrelevant when it comes to Clint. I the film Hang Them High, Clint Eastwood is shown dangling peacefully for about five minutes. Then he is cut down, recuperates and only sports a hematoma on his neck as a consequence. Sooner than you can say "East of the woods!" he's up and about and ready to seek revenge.
Later three gunmen shoot him in the back about ten times at close range--less than ten feet distance and again leave him for dead. End of the story? I thought so. But I forgot thatthis is Clint. Unlike us mortals, who would probably croak despite the intervention of a trained physician, Clint needs only the tender loving care of some prostitutes who simply bandage the wounds and without removing the bullets. One even warns a visiting lady that she better watch out because if Clint recuperates and finds her there he will make an advance.
After making his move, shivering, coughing and finally getting laid, Clint
Is riding his horse and looking healthier than before. I guess there's nothing better
Getting blasted in the vital organs at close range for gewtting one back in the pink.
BTW
Umm, excuse me but just how stupid are we movie viewers supposed to be?

Actually, if the rope is not tied and positioned correctly, and the person does not fall far enough, he can hang there for quite some time - with severely limited breathing, but not limited enough to suffocate.
Victims of hanging typically die from a broken neck, not from suffocating.
No doubt, though, ole clint should have been finished with the unloading of the gun into his back :p

Reminds me of the series 24 I've been watching. Lots of high tech stuff about anti-terrorism, espionage, etc... but they keep throwing in the stupidest stuff. The latest one I can think of is that their high security interrogation room has an opaque glass door. When the security access thingy did not work, they just kicked the door in pretty easily.
Sheesh! :p

Three guns unloading at least three bullets each.

What is even better, count the number of shots from a six shooter in many of the movies.
But for course it is a low budget movie, and the same people who watch pro wrestling and think after you hit someone over the head with a folding chair they will stand back up in a few seconds

My Grandfather told me of a man who was caught stealing three horses and was hanged - this was in 1905, so the law was swift then. Now it would take three years of court wrangling before the man would even be convicted. Be that as it may, the man did not die. He had rope burns and was a bit affected by the lack of oxygen but he lived another five years before being kicked in the head by a horse that he was trying to steal. Some people just do not learn. Lol. Oh, and the crook did die then.
I agree about watching "24" - as much as I am glued to the television when that show is one, there is no way on Earth that Jack could survive. Now Clint could have survived it all and come back for more. (Just kidding) Sad thing is that there are people who actually believe that all that seen on shows like "24" depict real life. Just like the CSI and CSI spawns. Give me a break! Since when does forensic testing results come back in the same day?
Speaking of Clint getting shot 10 times at close range... do you remember the old series "Gunsmoke"? Marshall Dillon was shot eight times once. Must have been Miss Kitty's TLC that pulled him through. Totally believable! Totally!
Have a superb day.

Fra_Chuck is right. Wrestling fan gullible types are most probably the targeted audience. These same people get mangled, disfigured, paralyzed, and lose their lives trying to pull off the same stunts. I'm strongly tempted to suspect sometimes that it might even indicate the intellectual level or general ineptitude of the ones making the movie.
BTW
Clint's feet are shown actually touching the ground in one shot followed by another shot where he's dangling again. I guess that's called the yo yo effect?

Maybe Clint was hung with a piece of spaghetti rather than rope!
If the rope isn't cured properly it would stretch rather than snap to break the neck. A slow strangulation would be the result.
