I was told to file for taxes even though I do not have any income for this year.
Does anyone know if I would still get the refund for having a child? No one else is claiming me or my son, and I'm a single mother?

If you are a single mom then you had an income, unless you were living in a shelter or on the streets.
Welfare, alimony, child support, Social Security?
If you had no earned income, then you can't file for the Earned Income Credit, which might be what you are thinking of when you say refund.
