How do I know if I'm in labor?
I'm not really feeling anything in my abdomen except the baby, she has dropped(im 38 weeks). I have a LOT of pain in the bottom of my back and the top of my butt. It hurts to sit or lay down. Im just not sure what I should do because my hospital is an hour away.

Is the pain continuous or intermittent?

    If it's intermittent, how often?

    Is this your first baby?

The pain in usually continuous. When it isn't its usually when I'm laying down and always in my back. Today, I'm hurting a lot. Ive even had SOME pain in my abdomen. Yes, this is my first child.

It wouldn't hurt to call your Labor and Delivery unit to see what they advise you.

Make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids. Even minor dehydration (which is very common in pregnancy) can cause pains like you describe. Warm baths are good, as well as Tylenol (paracetol).

If the pains do not subside with position changes, it may be time to travel that hour to your hospital.

I wouldconsider contacting your midwife for some advice but most women experience aches and pains towards the end of pregnancy as it is so compact and the baby is moving around. Ifit tends to ease when you lie down it could just be the position of the baby
