    Is my baby getting better?
My eleven month old minpin began to act lethargic, this past Saturday at about ten pm, he continued to act tired, and had no appetite Sunday morning, then Sunday night, be began to run fever, and throw up mucus, his vomit being the same consistancy, color, etc. of human snot.
I became very worried and rushed him to the vet Monday morning, he was diagnosed with parvo.
His progress is so shaky, that it has me worried, then enthusiastic, then worried again, the vet gave him two antibiotic shots, and sent us home with, 5 syringes of wormer, an antibiotic, a pill wormer, a nausea pill, and & 10ccs of gatorade every 30 minutes when bruno got home from the vet, he ate! I was so proud, then 5-6hrs later, he vomited up the food.
This morning, he woke up and went straight to the water bowl, and drank on and off for about ten minutes, he has yet to have any bowel movements at all, and he just sits here looking at me, drooling, and wagging his tail if I speak, I've never had a dog with parvo, so is he getting better?

There's really no way to tell. Parvo is horrible. One minute a dog can seem to be getting better, and then suddenly go downhill.

Keep doing what you're doing. If there's any concern at all go right back to the vet. I'm actually surprised that he was sent home. Most vets treat parvo in their clinic, as it's very important to give the proper care exactly as outlined, and any emergencies that may come up are better handled at the clinic.

I won't lie to you, your dog has a 50-50 chance. The first three to four days are critical. If he makes it through 3-4 days his chances of survival increase. If he survives the week he should be on the road to recovery.

Continue the treatment, contact your vet with any concerns, and I wish you and little Bruno all the best. Please keep us posted.

Parvo is such a horrible virus and it can effect every dog differently.

The most important thing to do at the moment is keep the pups fluids up with the gatorade.
You can also use Pedialyte with a little sugar added. Without eating his blood sugar can drop which is why adding it to the fluids is a good idea.

Next time you offer food only offer a tiny amount, half a teaspoon, then if that stay down offer a teaspoon an hour later and gradually increase it.

I am a little confused as to why your vet gave so many worming medications? Did the pup have a severe case of worms as well? If not I would probably leave those until after he has improved as worming treatments can make them feel sick as well.
