    Is the tragus piercing painful?
So, for christmas my father is letting me get a piercing so I did a little reseach, and I picked the tragus. I am 14 years old and I have has my belly piercing. And I have three lobe piercings. Would you say that this piercing hurts somewhere in between or more or less?

    Thanks!!

It hurts more than what you've already got because what you've already had pierced is just flesh, this time its going through very thick cartilage. It will hurt, any piercing will but its not unbearable, if it was then people wouldn't get it done. You'll be fine, don't worry.. just don't psych yourself out before you go in, hold someone's hand, and listen to music whilst you're in there, it will help. Good luck!

I actually asked my piercer about that spot in particular the first time I went in to get pierced (mine are too small to pierce, bleh) she said the most commonly complained about piercing painwise is the belly button, go figure :)... I honestly can't imagine it hurting that much more than any other cartilage piercing. Cartilage has no nerves or anything to pick up pain, so its only the flesh on either side you feel pain from.
(also you have an awesome dad, mine probably would have had a heart attack if I'd wanted more than single piercings at that age... as it is 3 extra make him check every time I go visit him to make sure I don't have any more, lol.)

The only thing I'd be wary of is if they try to do it with a gun. I don't know of anyone doing that spot with a gun, but I've met 2 or 3 ladies who had their helix done with a gun and had the cartilage shatter, it doesn't happen often, but using a gun is an unnecessary risk, keep it in mind

Ears do have nerves, if they didn't then you wouldn't be able to feel if you touched them. Everywhere has nerves. The outer helix doesn't hurt as much as the tragus or forward helix (I have both) because its further away from the head and its thinner.
