    Is it the chain or switch you want to replace? The chain connects with a bead chain connector. If it is the switch, drop the light fixture after turning off the power. The switch is usually run through the fitter and held in place with a threaded ring. Unscrew the ring, note the colors of the wires, detach the wires and take the switch to HD, Lowe's or an electric supply store. Replace in reverse order.
