    Truss length variation
Greetings: I am in the midst of building a 24 x 60 garage. After having a local "Big Box" home store help me spec it out, everything was set up for staggered delivery per phase. Footer and wall construction was fine, but the trusses came 26' (bottom cord) with approx 1.5 foot over hang ( spec called for 24' width and 12" overhang soffit.) I am not comfortable with the explaination " oh that's standard." Am I to "split the difference and leave a 6" cantilever on both front and back? Won't this lessen the structural integrity? Am I expected to intall my own wedge / braceing? If so, what about shifting the full cantilever to the front where it will afford more protection for the O/H doors? Thanks for any insight !

Check with building dept to see if trusses are acceptable. If not, inform the store that the trusses do not meet the specs and have to be replaced.

The length of bottom cord is also a control to keep walls from kicking out.
