This is a homework assignment, and don't want an answer just an explanation. I am from central Illinois and do not understand the ecosystem to even begin to say how it is in my area. What types of things are they looking for?

Ecosystems are often defined as a matter of convenience because we can't study everything at once. How would you describe the characteristics and boundaries of the ecosystem in which you live? In what respects is your ecosystem an open one?
