I currently live in a mobile home we purchased in December of 2000. We had a 10 year loan for the trailer. In 2006 we got a letter from the bank that they had merged with another bank and that we would be receiving a new payment book for the loan and not to make payments until we received it. The next payment came due and no book. We sent a payment not wanting to get behind and sent a letter asking about the book. It took over 30 days for them to processs it with no response and no new book. We sent 3 more payments with the same result. Finally we sent a letter stating we were making no further payments until we receive a new book. To this day, we still live in the trailer, no one has ever contacted us, and we have made no other payments. We live in a park and we rent the lot. We are looking to move, but we can't even give the trailer away with out the title. I have a copy of the title so I know all of the information, but I don't know how to go about finding out the current status of the title. What do I do?

Have you contacted the old or new bank and asked them the status. They still hold the note and you still owe for it,
Assuming you have their letters not to make any payments till you are contacted that will prove you do't owe tons of late fees. But you will need to find them and arrange to pay the loan off. I am assuming you put the money you were to pay into a escrow account, so the payoff will be sitting in the bank?
