Can I ask to be induced at 38 weeks and 3 days
Tomorrow I am going to be 38 weeks and 4 days pregnant; I have had trouble sleeping for the past 2 weeks, it hurts to walk, I have been getting really nauseous everyday I have irregular contrations and really bad mensral pains at nighttime. I am all around extremely uncomfortable and miserable. I just want my little boy out. I have an appointment tomorrow to see the size of my baby, and then meet with the doctor after. Could I ask to be induced? How would I ask?

I understand your discomfort, but we rarely induce just because the Mom is uncomfortable. We have to consider he health of the child and their lung development.

With that said, it is possible to be induced at 38 or 39 weeks. It all depends on your facility. We have guidelines that we must go by when it comes to inductions. Many facilities will not induce before 39 weeks. We also have to consider whether your cervix is favorable for an induction to reduce the risk of C-Section.

Induction increases the risk of a Cesarean Section, therefore it's best to wait to let nature take it's course unless the mom or baby is in trouble.

You only have 3 short days left until you are 39 weeks. Has your doctor told you whether you are dilated yet?

I am going through the same thing you are. The uncomfortable night sleep, the menstral cramping, not being able to find a good sleeping position... I know, believe me. I too hope my little one is early.

You, however, are lucky because you have 2 weeks on me. LOL

J_9 is right though, let nature take its course. He will come out when he is good and ready.

    Congrats!

You really don't. I know it's wishful thinking, I've been there 4 times myself. But the risks outweigh the benefits.

For sleep Tylenol PM and Benadryl are approved medications. ;)

When my ex was pregnant and Ready To Be Done (said Poo) we would up buying a recliner... it wasn't a planned purchase... it was desperation. And it worked for the most part... she slept in that damn recliner for a few weeks, and I in the sofa next to it. Might not be your answer... but it sure worked for her when she needed it.

Then there's always the-way-you-became-pregnant-isnt-a-bad-way-to-induce method... as semen has prostaglandins, and you having an orgasm releases oxytocin which can help induce... assuming you are in the mood. Simple stimulation at the breasts has been reported to help with induction.
