    Texas inheritance laws?
I am the trustee of a property in Texas that was owned by 3 sisters. One died in 2006 and the other (my mom) died in 2009. Before she passed my name was added to the deed and her name removed. Upon selling the home it is my understanding that the living sister gets 1/3, I would receive 1/3 and the sibling of the other sister shall receive 1/2 of her 1/3 of the proceeds. The remainding would be divided between the living sister and myself. Is this correct and if so can you supply me with the statue?

Why is it that the other sibling if a child of your aunt isn't entitled to the same share (1/3) that you are getting?

Do you believe you inhierited more when your aunt passed away? If that were the case then the home would be split 50/50 between the surviviors.

What is the sibling relationship? How was the home titled?

I had to do this as per an attorney when my brother passed in Texas. He left everything to me, but upon selling the home I had to give the stepson 1/2 of his mothers portion of the proceeds. The home was titled with my aunts name and my name currently. I just need to now the right way to divide the proceeds...

If there is only 2 names on the title. Then the split is 50/50.

What happened to your aunts portion when she passed in 2006?

    Who was/is the heir.

The aunt's portion that passed in 2006 is still unsettled. The home has not sold yet, but on the market currently.
