    Here are some diagrams:
4-Way Switch Wiring Diagrams | Easy to read wiring diagrams for do-it-yourselfers
    A little confusing for me.
I will try to help with words.
The 3 way switches have 1 dark screw and 2 same colored screws.
The dark screw of 1 3 way connects to a constant hot, the other 3 way with the dark screw is the "switched end"(goes to the lights hot), then a pair of wires(travellers) connects to the 2 same colored screws on one 3 way, from there, the pair connect to the 4 way switch, the 2 wires out of the 4 way to the 2 same colored terminals on the other 3 way.
You will connect all whites together, and all grounds together, and will want to make up before the switch wiring, so they will be in the back of the box.

The diagrams show romex being used, 99.9% of my work is in conduit, in that case the travellers are usually the same colored wires, 2 blues, 2 browns, anything BUT white, gray, or green.
