    L1 visa income tax for 5 months
    I have heard that I will be able to claim all my tax because it doesn't come under particular slab or its lower than expected slab. Is it true?

    I have pkg of 72k and I will be here till Jan that means 5 months in this fin year and 1 month in next fin year.

    I am in CA state.

    You are exempt from federal income taxes IF the source of the income is your home country company.

    If you are being paid from a U.S. company or a U.s. subsidiary, then you ARE liable for federal and California state income taxes plis FICA (Social Security and Medicare) taxes.

    You can deduct daily living expenses (food, local transportation, travel, incidental expenses) if these expenses are NOT reimbursed to you. You will need to file Form 2106 with the Form 1040NR and claim these expenses as itemized deduction.
