    Hi,
Isolate the engine from the frame by disconnecting the ignition ground and using the spark plug against the frame to check for the existenc of ignition. Take care not to do this before checking for the presence of fuel that would be ejected from the spark plug hole and ignite by the plug if ignition is present.
    Peace,
    Clarke

Briggs and Stratton cranks but will not run [ 2 Answers ]

I have a 6.5 HP Briggs and Stratton Lawn Mower from Sears. It has plenty of gas and a new spark plug. After I prime the gas it cranks immediately runs for 5 seconds then shuts off. I've heard that this may be because it sat for some time without being used. Any suggestions on what to do?
