Can you overturn a judgement in a civil case
I was sued because the apt complex I lived in in MD. Says even though my llease was up in April 05 that because I did not sign a another lease agreement stating I would be on a month to month lease, the lease would automatically renew for a year. Unfair as it seems I signed the lease, unaware of this clause. We went to court and the judge only found damages in the amount of 987.00 not for the 11,200 they were seeking . The lawyer for the apt.complex filed a motion and the verdict was overturned in their favor, in which I never received a court date or even notice about this "motion" and now I owe them 12000. They have sent a request to my employer for wage garnishment, is there anyway to fight this verdict, stop the wage garnishment, and can they put a lien against my IRA where all my money is? Any help is appreciated.
