    90' Honda Civic SI:HB Problems
    What's up everyone,
I frequently use the amazing information provided here in this forum, never did I believe I would have to consult the forum with problems of my own, as most if not all symptoms my vehicle has had was remedied with the information provided here in this forum. And I would like to thank every person in the forum that has saved me numerous of times.

I will try to clearly explain the current and previous symptoms my vehicle was having and is having.

    - Previous (when the problems started): Tried to start the car, all I could hear was the starter. This led me to believe it was a distribution problem with the distributor. I did not think of it as a big deal, as this problem had happened to me earlier – about 2 years ago. As I uncovered the ignition coil I could see the damage done, basically the coil was burnt where the needle from the distributor cap is inserted, and as well the needle from the distributor cap was burnt. The rotor was intact; I could not see any damage done to it. I sped off to the nearest kragen/auto zone and I purchased a(n) distributor cap, rotor and ignition coil.

    - Current (after installing all of the items listed above): The car starts with no problems, but after a few minutes or so the car shuts off automatically. When the car shuts down automatically I am unable to restart the car. When I turn the ignition switch to start up the car what I hear is the starter wining trying to start the engine but to no success.

What I have noticed is if I remove the spark plug wires from the block then re-insert them, the vehicle will start but the car will eventually shut off automatically thus repeating the cycle.

I would appreciate any input, I have tried numerous of times trying to fix this problem but to no success. Thank you for your time.

Sounds like you have a major problem with the secondary voltage circuit. High resistance in the secondary (likely from bad spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor) caused the high voltage to turn back on the distributor components. I would replace spark plug wires and igniter, since you just replaced the distributor cap, rotor and coil. Good chance this will solve the problem. If it doesn't, I would consider replacing the whole distributor, since some of the sensors may have been damaged. Be sure and check EBay for deals on new distributors, if necessary.
