Is it a good idea to accept an IT job when you're a quiet person?
IT jobs are about computers.. But all the IT people I've seen in my life are really outgoing and talk a lot. I'm not a talker and yet the boss wants to give me an IT position. He's seen how I'm a mute and don't talk. The only thing is that I do work.

There are 100's of different type of IT jobs, will you be trying to tell people over the phone how to fix things, or just working in a office fixing things yourself

IT jobs are very broad. I agree completely with the above poster. I am the IT guy for an Insurance company.

My official title is Systems Support Technician and my job includes a lot of communicating with vendors, employees, Systems Admin, the boss, etc...

I guess what we're trying to say is what type of IT job are you looking at?

I'll be updating spreadsheets , and doing some research and helping people over the phone. They let me work before there for a little bit and I did that. But I was just a temp and I just did a little. If they hire me, I probably have to help more over the phone or help people from the company that come asking for help.

Going over everything you have wrote and my personal experience in this field. I believe that the decision will come down to if you think you can handle it.

Jobs are hard to come by for a lot of people, is this a job you need? Want? etc...

You have to determine if this is something you can do.

    Hello c:

I think an IT job is a PERFECT place for a person who isn't very social... The computers you'll be dealing with, don't care.

The computers may not care but the employees, vendors, etc... might. I think having a good working relationship with your co-workers, vendors is a must. This usually involves talking, shotting-the-poo etc...

You have to determine if its something you can do. I say give it a try regardless.

Is the non-talking a choice or something you've always done?
