My boyfriend wants to get a paternity test done on a child that is claimed to be his!
My boyfriend four years ago was told he is the father of this girls child. So he tried making it work with her was there for the birth and he signed the birth certificate and waved the paternity test. It didn't work between them so after 6 months they split. Since we started dating a year ago we had sat down and talked about what we could do to get rights to see the child, and she refused to work with him as she did all the years before as well, and then we really got to talking and realized that the time line that they were together didn't match up with it being his child. This was in February and the child was born in August at a little over 8 lbs that's around 3 months early. We have made calls to get a paternity test done but were told we needed to get one court ordered, and that involves gettting a lawyer and money we just don't have at the time. Did I also mention that he does pay child support. So my question is that if his name is on the birth certificate and they have never been to court so there is nothing binding in visitaion rights or anything. What can we do to get a test done without having to pay so much money, and without involving a lawyer, or do we really have to get one court ordered to know the truth? Someone PLEASE help! This girl is making our lives miserable.

    1. stop asking or trying to work things out with the mother, she is not willing to work things out and even if she did, it has to go though the court.

    2. He needs ( not both of you) but he needs to file for visitation though the court, ( and have his child support set by the court) The court will give him specific days that he is allowed to visit.

    3. His ability to get a DNA test will depend on where you live, if in the US, some states have few restrictions of when you can test, others have many restrictions.
But again, this has to also be though the court
