I don't want my daughters dad to have rights to her.
I have a 16month old daughter her father lives in a different state. He has only seen her one time, has never provided financial help, or done anything with her. He is not on her ***** certificate and technically has no legal rights to her. But I am hearing from his brother that he is going to file papers to get custody to her. Is there any papers or forms I can sign so he has no rights to her at all now or ever? I heard if I got married and my husband adopts her then there's nothing my daughters dad can do about it anymore since my husband will then have legal rights not the baby's father. I need to find out something to do fast because he is a terrible father and I don't want him to have anything to do with him. Please help. Thank you.

If your wanting to have a husband adopt then your going to have to be married a year or more to prove your stable and the bio father will have to sign off on it. So if he wants to fight it he can. Is there a child support order in place now ?

The bio dad already has "rights" he has the right to file in court for some level of custody or at least visits,

Also sorry you were mis-informed, you can have your new HUSBAND request to adopt the child, but the bio father will have to agree to this and sign over his rights to allow it.

While he lives in another state he is not likely to get any joint custody, but he will get rights to visits,

Next he does not owe any money to you at this time, since you did not file for any child support though the courts, from a moral level he owes support, but not legally unless you got a child support order

Well I don't appreciate you acting like a smart ***. And he is not on the birth certificate nor have we done a paternity test since he did not want one. So as of now NO he does not have any legal rights. And I do not want child support of any kind from money or anything else I just want him out of lives for good since he has done nothing for her or made no effort to be in her life when I've offered for him to visit numerous times . I do not want him breaking her heart by telling her he loves her and doing nothing to show it. But you thanks a lot for the response.
