I was recently charged with theft under 500. It was actually under 100 dollars. I took money from work, and I know it was stupid and wrong. The store said nothing about pressing charges at the time, just that I was fired. I told them I had the money and I never spent it. It was 80 bucks. I told them if they wanted it back, they could have it. They said no just pay it in restitution, this was my first offense for anything. I had been in trouble before for nothing. I asked soe of the officers at the jail what could happen to me, and they just said it was a misdemeanor charge and I would most likely get 6 months to a year prohbation, but I was looking at the state law and it said I could receive up to 11 months and 29 days even on my first offense. I didn't fight the arrest or lie. I went calmy and I told the truth to management when I was confronted about it. All of this happened on a Friday afternoon and I got myself out on Friday night. No lawyers at work on the weekend and go to court on Monday. Any advice? And please no lectures because I am beating myself up as it is and I apologized to the store and all. Just some advice please.
