Understanding my daughter
I would like to understand my daughter. She has always been shy, but when she sees friends of hers in town or something, she will not go up and say hey or anything. I'll ask her what's wrong because I'm thinking that maybe something happened between them and she says no everything is fine and she don't know why she didn't say anything. It's not just one friend, it's any one of them. Can anyone help me understand?

Well... since I AM a daughter and a teen here are some reasons
1.It's not a big deal that we see our friends in malls or anything
2.they probably aren't her friends, because when I was in grade 5 I had this best friend and now I kind of hate her but my dad thinks that she's still my friend! Heh... >_>
3.girls our age(11-17) don't like to tell their family(other than a well trusted sister) all problems
... er... ya I think that's all... I think...

If you are with her when she sees her friends, she might be worried that you might say something embarrassing. I know that sounds harsh, but it could be true. I know when I was a teenager, I felt the same way about my parents, even though I know now that they wouldn't have said anything. You should just have a talk with her, but don't be too pushy about the subject.

Don't worry at all! I always get like this when I see my friends with family or something. I don't know why, probably because there isn't anything to say to the friend, or they could be embaressed of you, but I don't think you should worry, its psychological!

I used to be the same way. But there is a possibility that she could have depression. I have depression, and for a very long time I didn't want to go out with my friends. I would just talk to them at school and that was it. I now take medicine for that, and its like I am a completely different person.(a good kind of different) so you may want to get that checked out and see if she is suffering from depression

Some Kids just prefer to keep their friends and family life separate, It's a way of protecting their privacy.
