What do I do if I fear my Mum and Dad have developed mental instabilities or illness?
I moved out of my parents house earlier this year- I'm 21. They did something to hurt somebody deeply and I'm concerned that the trauma has effected them in a negative way. I no longer get to see my younger brothers. They seem to becoming increasing paranoid and emotionally detached. The way they are behaving is very abnormal and first I thought that is was just their pride but when I told a relative the full story of what happened she remarked "have they gone crazy?". Now thinking about it I am very concerned. They are also very isolated and have very, very few relationships in their life. I'm worried for my brothers well being and the fact that most of their friends and family have no idea and no involvement in their lives to see them.

I'm really keen to speak to some one about it because I think they need help but don't know the people or the procedure...

Any help would be really appreciated. I'm in the UK by the way.

    Thanks

Unfortunately your hands are tied here. Unless they go for assessments of their mental state voluntarily or harm someone physically, you can't do much of anything. Except of course, alert family, but then how do you know absolutely that they are having difficulties.

What if they have harmed someone and the authorities know about it- would anyone pick up the case in retrospect if alerted about mental health worries?
