Self made contract, will it hold up in court?
I made up a contract and signed it with a person. They borrowed money from me. I stated how much is owed, a certain date to pay and if they do not contact me telling me they need an extension then I can use the contract legally in court. I put exactly what was owed to me. We both signed it, dated it, put our ssn on it. Will this hold up in court?

I know they won't. It is for 4500.00 and they haven't started paying yet. I am giving them until 4/1/2012 to pay with 60 advance notice if they can't come up with the full amount to let me know. I put in there that I can use the contract legally in court.

They also have an additional 90 days to pay and then I go to court. I put it in there to be considerate.

Will This Situation Hold Up In A Court of Law? [ 2 Answers ]

My husband and I rented a trailor from a man in 2008. When he advertised it he claimed it would be $500.00 a month. When we met him, he said, "Oh that was a misprint. It is actually $550.00". So, no problem. So, he told us we would rent on a month to month basis and there would be no lease signed...
