    Lease renewal letter binding?
I received a lease renewal letter with different prices for different lengths of leases. I chose the 12 month one with an increase of 25 dollars. I gave proper notice that I would renew for that time and that amount. A few days later, my landlord informed me that the price would be 100 dollars per month more---not 25.

The last four years I received lease renewal letters---the rental price and length I agreed to when I gave notice were not changed by the landlord.

I haven't signed the lease yet. Is this legal?

I don't think you have to. Your original lease was signed, right? The letter from your landlord with modification terms, together with your reply letter accepting a $25 increase, seem to constitute offer and acceptance, making a valid agreement to modify the lease.

Depends on the texts of the letters, but it appears to be the case.

    Hello fed:

I agree with lawyer... Write your landlord a certified letter explaining exactly what lawyer said. Send your letter return receipt requested.

This, of course, will disrupt your wonderful relationship... So, be prepared to move when THIS lease expires...
