My cat has been acting strange for the past week...
She is usually very social and active, but for the past week, she has been staying very seclusive. She jumps on top of my cabinets and stays there or she will crawl behind my washer and just sit there or hide under the bed. Anytime I check on her she's just sitting there. Sometimes she will start meowing and I will go talk to her and she just meows. She's eating, she's pooping, I'm assuming she's drinking... I don't really ever catch her drinking... Its really starting to scare me... She's 6 years old, and completely caught up on her check ups. =\ I told myself that I was going to give it a few days and if she is still acting this way I was going to take her to the vet and have some bloodwork done. I'm scared cause I know animals will seclude themselves if they are sick or they know they are going to die soon...

You are getting upset, probably for nothing. If she is not spayed, she could be pregnant. Is she an outdoor cat.

She's fixed and she's a indoor cat. Its just worrying me, cause she's usually out and greets me at the door. She's just been staying in one spot.

I would maybe book an appointment with a vet soon.

Cats tend to hide when they are unwell. Not to say the same thing is happening, but when I was younger, my one cat did what yours is doing. Turns out she had eaten a piece of string that had telescoped her bowls, and she died in surgery. :(

I'd rather you be safe than sorry. Just in case.

A vet visit is ALWAYS a good idea when an animal exhibits bizarre and unexplainable behaviors. Like someone said its always better to be safe then sorry. I would consider any changes in the environment that may be contributing factors. Any strangers in the house lately (repair men, new roommates, etc), any changes in or around the household (remodeling, tree trimming, any kind of loud noises in or out of the home). If the vet gives her a clean bill of health I would guess that something scared her, or continues to scare her. There is one other possibility and that is that perhaps she is looking for an invader. This is the time of year when mice are trying to come in and prepare a warm spot for winter and maybe your girl is concentrating on catching this unwanted invader. Hope she's OK!
