    Programmable thermostat Honeywell RTH7400D1008 to our Trane heat pump.
    "I am trying to connect a new programmable thermostat Honeywell RTH7400D1008 to our heat pump. I have an extra wire T and an empty terminal L; should I connect these?"

    L does not have to be connected, t may have been to power a heat strip. What other terminals did you have on the old stat.
