Sump pump runiing & pumping water for over 12 hrs..
I live in a townhome community with the homes being built in 1970's. The builder never sealed the basements nor installed sump pumps so water in the basements and mold are a constant issue here.

I live in an end unit and my neighbor 2 doors down (in the middle unit) had a professional waterproof her basement installing a trench and sump pump. Just last night around midnight she said she heard her pump go on and it goes on every 30 seconds. It is going on over 12 hours and it is still doing this. The whole back yard (which a total of 6 units are connected and share) is a pond. It has been dry here with the last significant rain being over 3 weeks ago. Her basement is dry and the water is just continuing to go into the pump. It is clean water and her water meter is not running crazy. She has water pressure as does the other 2 neighbors. Her water heater is also OK.

I am concerned because I am baffled as to what it could be. I have yet to get a sump pump installed and if the water runs into my basement from her unit, then I'm up-the creek! Since she is 2 doors down, my immediate neighbor shows no excessive running of his pump nor any water in his basement. It could be that an underground water line has burst but we would not have any water pressure, correct?

Any thoughts on this would be helpful!
