    7 weeks, low heart rate
I am 7 weeks and I have a doppler at home. I have not been to see my doctor yet as I am waiting for my referral. The babies heart beat is uasually around 80 bpm and I understand that is considered low. Everything I have been reading basically say the same thing, the pregnancy may not be viable. Am I worring myself for nothing or should I be concerned?

It would be very difficult to pick up the heartrate that early with a doppler, even if you were in the doctor's office. It is more likely that you were picking up your own heartrate which is very easy to do.

I would hold off on using one in the early weeks and just wait until after you see your doctor.

I know they can be reassuring later on, but for some families the dopplers become a real source of frustration and anxiety.

Easier said than done, but try not to worry at this point.

Doula is absolutely correct. It's near impossible to get the fetal heart rate at 15 weeks, much less 7 weeks, with a doppler. I would have to agree with her that you are picking up your heart rate.

One way to know for sure is to have your significant other hold the doppler while you take your own pulse in your wrist.
