    Hampton Bay Fan/Harbour Breeze Remote
My daughter recently purchased a house with the above fans and remotes. One of the mounting boxes was loose. I removed the fan, repaired the box, I did not disconnect the remote receiver from the house wiring, and then reinstalled the fan and now the remote will not work. I was sure that I re-connected the wires from the remote receiver to the fan, (black/black,white/white,blue/blue and green to ground).

She has no manuals on the fan or remote. I disconnected with the power on, not smart. I reconnected things with the switch off. Is there a sequence or certain procedure to follow when intalling the remote? There is no external switch or chain on the fan. The dip switches were not changed and they match. I see an on/off switch up inside the hand held remote, but no way to get to it.

Make sure all the connections are secure. It is possible fried something by disconnecting with the power on (did it arc at all?) but unlikely. Try hooking the fan up without the receiver and see if it works.

Harbour Breeze fan remote control problem [ 3 Answers ]

I was able to prove that my remote control problem is inside the fan, not the remote itself. I reset the dip switches and tried in on an identical fan and the remote works. I assume the problem is the transmitter inside the fan. Is this a customer replaceable part? If yes, where can I buy it?...
