    Anxious about hip replacement surgery
    Hi,
I'm 28 and have rheumatoid arthritis. I'm having hip replacement surgery in a week. I've been anxious about it ever since they mentioned it about 7 years ago!
I'm quite scared I'll get panicked just before the surgery next week. I know I really need to have it done and the pain has become unbearable now.
    Any advice?

These days it is not nearly as involved of a surgery as it was years ago and many people find they are up and around far sooner than they might realize.

The one suggestion I would make is to really push yourself during the therapy afterwards. It is easy to want to take it easy and not push as much as the therapist will try and get you too, but it is very important to make sure you do that bit extra so that you can be better assured of achieving your full range of motion later on.

Wishing you well and a speedy recovery! Be sure and come back and let us know how you are doing... :)
