Can I work before getting my I765? I already have a social security.
I came as a J1 visa holder, now I'm married to an American citizen and applied for adjustment of status, my cassis taking too long because my office is too busy, I just got my biometrics for the I765 done. So can I work?
I got a great job offer and would like to know what would happen if I started working.. Tnks ;)

no. to work lawfully, you must wait for you EAD to be issued. With that the company can properly fill out the I-9 form.

If you started working unlawfully, it would be forgiven by the USCIS under INA section 245(a), but really best not to have to use that if you can avoid it. Confirm this with your attorney.

Congratulations on the marriage and good luck.
