I want to live with my mom? Who do I call
I live with my dad and I want to live with my mom. I have lived with my dad for 5 years now and I have had 3 step moms. He is constantly yelling at me. He is now saying we are moving to another school district and I want to stay in my school. I am only 13 and I really need my mom. My mom doesn't have the money to fight for custody but she really wants me and always has. I was told I can do it myself but I don't know who to call.. please help

There is no expense other than a filing fee (in some States). No, you cannot change custody by yourself at 13. Your mother would have to file for a change in custody.

How did you father get custody of you? Court Order? If so, that would have to be reviewed and possibly reversed.

The Court will probably interview your mother and father as well as you and make a determination what is best for you.

Whoever told you you could do it yourself gave you incorrect info. First, without knowing your general location we can't check local laws, but most states follow federal guidelines here. And that means the non-custodial parent (your mom) has to file in Family Court for a modification of the custody order.

The court will hold a hearing where you will probably be allowed to express your preference. Then a judge will decide based on what they believe is your best interests.

Yes, you can not merely decide to move, and I am sorry if you don't like living with your dad but at this point at least the courts felt it was best.

Your mom will have to file to try and get custody of you, there is nothing you can do.
