What are the rights of a parent who gave up children for adoption?
In the early 1980's my husband four siblings were put up for adoption, three of the children (my husband included) were adopted by the same family. We have recently been contacted by one of the other siblings seeking contact. What we need to know is if we contact this person and they are still connected with the birthparent(s), does the birthparent(s) have rights to visit or contact the grandchildren. We are aware that in Alabama we have "grandparent rights" but I am not sure, and would like help as to know, if this includes the parent that gives up his/her rights to adoption.

Generally, once relinquish papers are signed, there are NO rights linking the birthparent to the adopted child.

Edit: I missed that you were concerned about grandparent rights after adoption. That would be a legal question I do not know the answer to. I am moving your thread to the legal boards where it will get more answers.

No they would not have any legal rights to pursue at this time. When they went through with the adoption they severed those rights. In some states they allow for some backwards rights even after adoption like inheiritance but that's about the only extent of it and that is a backward right for the child to inheirit from the parent not the other way around.
