    Convicted felons traveling to australia
    I live outside the U.S. and have a newly issued passport in that country (not USA). I was convicted of a felony 4 years ago (non aggravated). I now want to visit Australia and have to obtain a visa through their local embassy. Will Australia immigration (embassy) find out about my felony in the U.S. although I don’t have a US passport and don’t live in the U.S. In other word, when applying for an Australian visa, will Australia immigration run my name through every country's criminal database?

    I forgot to say that my conviction was in the U.S. and NOT in the country that I currently live in and carry its passport.

    Hello g:

    It's not they'll run it through every country's database. They'll use just one, and MOST country's report to that database.

    So, I don't know if the Aussies will stop you from going... Hell, they SHOULDN'T. They were FOUNDED by convicts...

    @excon,
    Many thanks for taking the time to answer my question.
    I just couldn't understand when you said "...They'll use just one, and MOST country's report to that database..". Did you mean here that there is a "unified" (so to speak) database that all countries use (when you said "one")?
    If I don't mention that I ve ever loved in the States, will they find out about my felony conviction in the U.S.
    Many thanks

    Sorry "lived" not "loved" is what I meant in my last response.
