    You need the permission of the Court to serve in this manner. You have to prove you are unable to personally locate the person.

    The Court will tell you which papers you can use and how many times the "ad" must run, as well as the exact wording.

    You do not get a divorce by putting an ad in the paper.

    If you do not know where the other partner is, and after a good search to find them, they can not be found, some states in the US allow you to give legal service though a ad, then you use that, to go to court for the divorce
