    Taxes
Hi. I came into US Oct 25th 2009 with L1 visa. I have not filed taxes till now. Will my tax filing by next cycle (when?) account for my entire stay starting Oct 2009? I have been earning 3100$ / month.

Federal and State taxes are due on April 15 for the previous years. Your taxes for 2009 were due on April 15, 2010.

Your taxes are overdue and you could be looking at penalties and fines.

But starting Oct 25th 2009 till Apr 15th 2010, I have not completed 180 days of my stay in US. Does that count ?

    Sankar1984:

You would file as a non-resident alien for 2009, filing Form 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ.

If you have not filed yet, do so immediately. You will owe penalties and interest ONLY IF you owe taxes. If you are due a refund, there normally are NO penalties imposed.

If you need professional help to file, contact me at [email protected].
