I brush, floss, tongue-scrape, and use mouthwash regularly, especially before bed. Yet I cannot seem to eliminate the malodorous fumes that emanate from my mouth each morning upon awakening. I recently met someone with whom I think I might be developing a close relationship, we sleep together, and so this problem is now of prime importance. Thank you.

Try using a nonflourided toothpaste and mouthwash. I use a toothpaste from Italy called Kiss My Face. Has no fluride and leaves my breath fresh even first thing in the am. Also mouthwash that has fluroide is another cause of morning breath.

Since I've been using this nonfluroide toothpaste for years now I have not have morning mouth.

Define "regularly". Brushing twice a day for two minutes, flossing and brushing your tongue daily is what is recommended. Be sure you do the most thorough job at bedtime.

By 'regularly' I meant exactly what you described but I still can't rid myself of the morning breath. What is your opinion about the non-fluoride toothpaste suggestion?

I honestly don't feel the fluoride has anything to do with causing malodour. Have you ruled out any digestive problems? Do you suffer from heart burn (acid reflux) at all?

I'm generally healthy and in good shape. The breath is really a problem only in the morning. Should I just resign myself to this seemingly biological roadblock?

I'd recommend you see your dental hygienist and have a thorough periodontal exam. You may have some pockets that are deeper than your floss can manage.
