    If you are even considering picking a friend over your wife, then you have serious marital problems.

    Why do you need to pick?

    If your friend is indeed your friend,they would not make you choose between your spouse and them,and your wife should understand you need friends as does she.

    More information is needed here.

    Why do you feel the need to choose?

    If your friend is a bad influence on you perhaps your wife is pulling rank?

    You don't have to chose, nor should you, as long as you have healthy boundaries of good behavior in your marriage. For example you don't put your friends needs over your wife's needs.
