We were separated for 2 years although we were talking he hoped we would get back together I was having financial after he left I asked him if he would help and he offered to pay my council tax bill I said I would pay him back when I get back on my feet he said no it's OK well2 months later it I made it clear we couldn't reconsile and we continued with the devorce and now the threatening letters demanding the money he knows I'm not working and it was pride that made me offer but I knew the marriage was over can he do this as he wants an attachment on my house?[*] Item 1[*] Item 2[/LIST]

Since it was a clear expectation of getting back together and it sounds like he used that as a basis in his decision because you led him to believe so. Then he may have a right to take you up on your offer to repay.
