My pull chain broke on my fan speed switch. I replaced the switch with a 3-4 wire switch. I matches the black, brown. Grey and purlpe wire with the same connect number on the new switch that they had on the old switch. I believe this is a three speed fan. The fan now runs but it can not be turned...

I have a unknown brand ceiling fan. The speed switch broke inside. When I took the fan apart the switch was crumbled up. The wires were already out. Wires in fan: Black Yellow Pink Grey I purchased a 3 speed, 5-8 wire fan switch.
What is the proper wiring diagram for replacing a 3 speed / 5 wire switch in a ceiling fan? I have four of the wires properly colored coded and hooked up, but, can not find where the last one goes, since I was not the one who removed the original old switch?
