Texas live oak trunk repair for dummies?
How do I repair a large hole on my Texas live oak trunk? I believe the cause was done by the original land owners sharing bounderies, a large branch portruding over my neighbor's fence was cut off in the past long before me the present owner. This tree is about 2 to 3 hundred years old, a big landmark for my house. Right my house front view, covering over the brick fence and my drive way parking. Please help me, thanks again and "God Bless".

What is this 'hole' doing? Is it rotting? Is the bark growing around the cut?

Most times, tree repairs are done with pitch coated over the cut to stop pests and rot from forming problems.

If it is further than just a coating job, perhaps a call to your local park district and getting their advice might be in order.
