Does it matter when you are on a website like askmehelpdesk, or at your email account, and you don't log out first before you exit?

Is it just as safe to exit out of a website that you have logged in on as it is to log out first?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm sure there are many reasons to do so but if your living alone and only you have access to your PC, I would just close the browser.
I know of just one danger when not logging off.

Try this yourself, I'm going to use GMail as an example...

Login to Gmail. Do Not log off. Now just close the page. Open explorer again and type www.gmail.com again.

It should log in automaticaly without a password. And there in lies the danger. Especially @ internt cafes

    Hope this helps...

Normally it will allow anyone using that computer to access that account if they log back onto the same.

On my personal computer I seldom log off some sites, and when I come back the next day and open the site, I don't have to sign in.

So on work computers or public use computers. Or ones where others may use it, you should always sign out
