[Help93]

Okay, so first I'll start by telling you that I am 17, and 7 months pregnant, and my boyfriend is 16 and this is both our first offense, and first time stealing.
yesterday, my boyfriend and I initially went into walmart to buy him a USB but he didn't have enough, (it was $40 but he only had $20) so we were stupid and decided to steal it, but then we got greedy and went to far. The total (we didn't pay attention to the cost of the items) came to roughly $400 and a couple of the items were deemed damaged and unsellable because they were opened. We didn't steal many items but the value of them was more than we realized. We were caught and taken to the back and will be receiving a letter in the mail telling each of us when our first appearance will be.
Most items were electronic, and since that was so they said we appear greedy, as I am pregnant and none of it seemed to be related in anyway to the baby. (I'm NOT looking for sympathy but this was our logic,) I went on to explain to the police the reasoning was because my family is in a very serious financial state right now, (my family is on Ontario works/welfare) and all money they get goes towards bills which they are very far behind on, as well were possibly on the brink of being evicted. This being so, I knew my mother would ask me where I had gotten the money for the items, (I'm in need of things such as pants and sweaters as well as shoes that cover my feet, and things such as winter baby clothes, because my pants are too small I don't have a coat or sweater and I only have a pair of flip flops that are breaking) we thought maybe instead we could sell a couple mp3 players and get the money to buy the things and explain to my mom that our friends and his family had given us the money. Unfortunately this was a stupid thought, even though I may need these things it got to my head and we made a mistake. My wonder is what types of consiquences might we be facing.. I apologize for the novel, but appreciate all the help we can get. Thank you.

Also we Realize what we've done is wrong and are learning from our mistake we just need some help in what we can expect.

I am not going to address what will happen next. In your case you will find out from the letters you get in the mail. The judge my take pity on you because you are pregnant; don't know about your b/f.

In any event, you state that you need clothing, and I know Toronto and area has some great Salvation Army stores to access used clothing. If you are not too proud you may avail yourself of this service (given that we have another cold Canadian winter on the way)and at the same time hook up to a clinic through them to do whatever you can to have a healthy pregnancy, therefore a healthy baby. Later on, think of using a condom so you don't get in this situation again. Thank god you have OHIP and your hospital services and delivery, and post natal care will be taken care of.

The police don't care what type of financial situation you or your family are in, help93, and sure to continue to be unless you can learn how to advance yourself, get a job, your b/f get a job, whatever.

You are right,you are not generating any sympathy from me; I am just wondering how you ever got in this mess given the opportunities young people in Canada are given to learn about birth control and will continue to have wondeful educational opportunities. You however, are just so lost in the system now, so young with a baby coming. In my profession I have seen so many like you.
