    Order of operations: what do you have to do first in the left parenthesis?

    Actually, I don't know where you got either the 1.25 or 102. (I just know those two sides don't come out anything close to each other.) Could you show your work?

    If, by the dot you mean multiplication, then you should do the multiplication first.

    Then, you do the subtraction. Then, you multiply the two numbers, on both sides. If they give the same result, then it's true. If not, then it's false.
