    New puppy not eating
I just got a teacup chihuahwa puppy who is 12 weeks old yesterday and I couldn't get him to eat or drink any water last night and this morning when I woke up the puppy was sleeping and I set him in the floor on a pee pad to pee and he won't stand up. He just goes limp. I tried to mix wet puppy food with a little water and feed him in a syringe but he didn't take much of it. After another hour he still won't stand up and he just sleeps. Is this normal for a puppy in a new home? I'm getting really worried about him

I suggest a visit to the vet and a phone call to the breeder.

    'teacup?

I looked up 'teacup' and came across this, maybe worth a read.

Please get this puppy to the vet as soon as possible. Anyone selling 'teacup' dogs cannot be trusted to have sold you a healthy one.

Any new puppies whether it be from a backyard breeder or a reputable one should have a vet health check when you get them as a record.

I agree with Shazamataz here, this is one sick puppy. She needs medical attention ASAP, and no it is not normal for a new pup to be so weak that he or she can not stand.

Unfortuanatly, all that extra cash you spent on your cute little pocket pooch went to a very nasty person. Breeding small and sickly dogs to con unsuspecting people such as yourself. Sorry for the harshness, but more people need to be aware of what they are purchasing from their "breeders".

Are you sure the pup is 12 weeks? I find it hard for a BYB to actually keep the pups for 12 weeks. Are you the first owner? Is this pup up to date with shots and dewormers and flea treatment?

At this age and this time of year, the preliminary symptoms suggest parvo-virus or distemper. If the dog starts to vomit and has bloody, blow-out diarrhea with an odor of decay, then I would be very inclined to believe that it is parvo.

Yet, if the dog is acting this way I would not hesitate to take the dog to the vet for a check-up and/or treatment.

If the dog came from a "puppy mill" then we could probably conclude that it's parvo or distemper. Generally speaking, it's breed and get the dog out the door as quickly as possible.

Puppies (especially very small ones) are prone to hypoglycemia if they are not eating, which could be the cause of the symptoms you are describing. Please take your pup to the vet, this can be life threatening.
In the meantime, give him a bit of honey. Put it on your finger and place it on his tongue or in his gums.
Edit: I just realised this was yesterday and I missed it. I hope pup is OK. :(

Ah yes, missed that myself. Little trick we did with dogs that were having a tough time coming around from the anesthesia.
