My daughter and her father have had a spotty (at best) relationship since he left over 13 years ago. I did everything in my power to make him a part of her life to no avail. Then, a couple years ago he showed up at an event blitzed on drugs and beating his wife. He didn't even stay for her entire competition. I received an e-mail from his wife warning me that he was high, had been up for three days and was going to attempt to take her in order to spite me. I began court proceedings and had his visitation limited to supervised visits. Last year, he asked that he be given physical custody and we proceeded as necessary. She lived with him for a year - in which I paid for all her clothes and school supplies. He asked that I sign over my rights to child support. The court denied his request for custody of our daughter and she was returned to my home. During her last visit, her father threatened to kill her step-mother during an argument. My daughter called me hysterical and I had to make an emergency trip to pick her up. In the meantime, she was told his actions were all her fault; she was stupid and she was never going to amount to anything. She was then told her father would never care enough to see her again. We currently live in the state of Texas and would like to move to Kansas. We would actually be closer to him, but I know he will not agree because it is something we want to do. My court papers say I have to have his permission in order to move out of the state I am in. My daughter has asked if she could simply have his rights terminated since he doesn't want anything to do with her to begin with. He has not tried to contact her in any way. What are my options? What are her options? I don't have a lot of money so I don't really feel I can take this issue to court again.

She can't terminate it without his approval, and he could not do it without her approval. Sorry, he IS the kids father for what good or bad that involves. And in this case its far more bad than good.

Sorry no it does not work like that, to take his rights.
If you prove he is a serious threat, prove his drug use, prove his violence, you may restrict him to a supervised visits at most.
