    1991honda civic starting problem.will only run with starter engaged
    When you let go of the key while cranking engine will die. Also in the on position no dash lights or gauges are working.only in the crank pos.please help

    Just some things to think off.

    I would start by having the alternator tested and also get the battery tested.

    If the engine cranks and barley runs, then more than likley the alternator is not producing an electrical current to feed the engine and other devices.

    Thank you very much I kind of thought that but wasn't sure.it actually cranked up by moving the emer. Brake lever up and down but that doesn't make sense.thanks Texas grease monkey ill try that
