    Kenmore washer locked transmission?
I have a Kenmore washer 110.82283 that is locked up. It is belt drive that the motor tries to run but the transmission pulley will only rotate about 1 degree with a distinct metallic clunk when I try to rock back and forth manually.

I tried to move the bars back and forth that appear to control the transmission but it remains locked.

Can this be anything other than the transmission? If so is this a common failure mode?

    Thanks!!

I guess I have to answer my own question. It turned out to be a bad bearing in the motor, there is a little side play in the shaft so I guess the balls are getting jammed and allowing about 5 degrees movement.
