How can I raise the ceiling in my kitchen?
My kitchen was added on back in 1947 by the previous owner. For whatever reason, the ceiling is only 6'-8" and I'd like to raise it about 12". The addition is a basically a post and beam design with 4 columns and a perimeter of beams (size unknown). The dimensions of the kitchen are 14' X 14'. The roof above the kitchen has a fairly low pitch. Any suggestions?
