What video card did you add for the second monitor? Did you install the video drivers for the new card before/after installing the new video card?

    1) Buy a video card from your local computer store (makes it easy to return if you can't get it to work)

    2) Open the PC and install it into an empty slot. It's a pretty simple one-screw project, typically.

    3) When you boot the computer, Windows will most likely automatically detect the new card and download the drivers from the internet, or you can use the CD/instructions that will come with the video card.

    4) When installation/configuration has completed, shut the computer down.

    5) Attach your second monitor to the second video card and reboot the computer.

    6) GO into the Control Panel > Display > Settings and you will see a big "2" box along with the normal "1" box. Click on the "2" and set the configuration the way you want.

Question I don't have the vga connection either, so I would have to buy one of those also to put on the desktop?

Your monitor doesn't have a VGA cable with it? That's odd. Yes, you would have to buy one if the cable is missing.

First this is a low end PC with a small form factor. It DOES have ONE VGA port and I don't think it has internal slot to add another video card. You may be able to add a USB adapter for the second monitor:
USB 2nd monitor adapter - Google Search

    That search offers several options.

I do have to wonder why you bought a low end Walmart cheapie if you want to use it with dual monitors.
